🚀 Innovation at BVS: Amada EGB 1303 ARse ATC bending cell

The future of automated bending is picking up speed

Amada EGB 1303 ARse ATC bending cell: The future of sheet metal processing at BVS Blechtechnik is entering the next round: The first automated AMADA EGB 1303 ARse press brake (serial number: ARE001) has been at BVS Blechtechnik in Böblingen for several weeks – the second system was delivered last Thursday.

The ARse series stands for fully automated bending with maximum precision and efficiency. The combination of servo-electric drive, automatic tool changer (ATC) and integrated bending robot enables flexible and productive production – ideal for complex components and series production.

Technical highlights:

  • 1300 kN pressing force
  • 3050 mm Bending length
  • Automatic tool changer (ATC)
  • Inline angle measurement (Bi-S II)
  • AMNC 4ie control system
  • 14 axes for complex bending processes

BVS Blechtechnik: Gastank Tausch

Gas tank exchange – two truck-mounted cranes

Gas tank exchange – two truck-mounted cranes

Two truck-mounted cranes, a 30,000-liter nitrogen tank – and me in the middle of it all.

Thursday, May 22, at BVS Blechtechnik: no ordinary working day.
Our liquid nitrogen tank had to be replaced – and that was only possible with heavy equipment. Two mobile cranes were used to swing out the old tank and place the new one – now with a capacity of 30,000 liters – with pinpoint accuracy.

A very special opportunity for me as a marketing employee:
I was not only able to document the entire process, but also accompany it directly from the crane working platform, professionally secured of course. Airy heights, a direct view of the floating tank, camera in hand – adrenaline meets industrial photography.

Why switch?
👉 Change supplier to SOL
👉 Capacity expansion – more buffer, more flexibility
👉 Investment in security of supply and production stability

A logistical tour de force, planned with millimeter precision and impressively implemented. You don’t get insights like this every day – not even at BVS. But that’s exactly what makes it so exciting.

📸 Insights can be found in the video & in the gallery:

A big thank you to Rothmund GmbH Kran und Montage and the BVS team for making my adventure at lofty heights with the crane work platform possible – professional support as you would wish for!

And let’s be honest: when was the last time you stood eye-to-eye with a 30,000-liter tank?

Coat Master Flex im Einsatz bei der Schichtdickenmessung

Surface finishing: Coat Master Flex

Surface finishing: Coat Master Flex

Hi, I’m the new guy at BVS Blechtechnik.

Coat Master Flex – my name. My mission? Measure powder coating like a pro.

In the past, the parts had to be baked before anyone could say anything about the layer thickness.

Me? Do that first.

Even before it gets hot, I know whether everything fits – without touching anything.

This really saves time (at least half an hour per part), nerves and rework.

I am an area meter. No more spot measurements. I check many places at the same time – quickly, precisely, reliably.

Whether 5 or 300µm (before the oven) or up to 500µm (afterwards) I can see everything.

I am cloud-based, always connected.

The order number? I have it at hand, of course.

I know which job I belong to – it couldn’t be more efficient.

In short: I digitize the powder coating.

I look forward to working with you,

– Your Coat Master Flex

Commissioning of new air compressors

Commissioning of new air compressors: Today we can finally introduce ourselves:

We are called DRYPOINT RA and are part of the new air compressors in the BVS Blechtechnik production team.

What can we do/what do we do?

We are significantly more energy efficient than our predecessors, for comparison:

We are at the start with 12.5 m³ / min, while our predecessors only managed 6 m³ / min. Our team consists of two machines, whereas our predecessors worked with three.

Our work shift is organized in pairs on a weekly basis, whereas our predecessors always worked in pairs and a third machine rested. ;-)

This means that two of us can manage the work of three appliances in the past and one of us is always on standby as a backup.

A few more interesting facts about us:

  • We consist of 2 units each, i.e. the air compressors and the corresponding refrigeration dryers.
  • The higher-level control system (=airleader) also ensures energy efficiency with alternating pressure control.
  • The speed-controlled pressure can be kept constant.
  • Thanks to the improved encapsulation, we are significantly quieter, quieter and easier to maintain than our predecessors.

The heat feedback of the air compressor uses the waste heat generated to reuse energy efficiently. This heat is used specifically to bring the process baths in our powder coating to the required temperature. This is energy efficiency in action.

We are very pleased with our beautiful, new, elevated space with plenty of visibility in the middle of the punching/laser area. This space has the advantage that we are not exposed to such high ambient temperatures as our predecessors.

We look forward to many years of cooperation.

BVS safety training

BVS Safety Training 2025: Safety first – Our training gets to the point!

Our latest BVS safety training course was all about a safe, responsible and well-organized workplace – from CE-marked materials to the right way to behave in an emergency. Here is an overview of the most important content:

  • CE and TÜV tested – safe right from the start:
All materials used, such as shelving and lifting trolleys, bear the CE mark and are TÜV tested – this is the basis for safe working on the European market.
  • Electronic work equipment and maintenance:
Whether electronic tools, fans or other devices – they must be checked regularly by the maintenance department. This is the only way to ensure that all work equipment is working properly and that there is no danger from defective devices.
  • Ergonomics at the workplace:
Back-friendly working is not a luxury, but a standard: ergonomic chairs and desks support health and prevent long-term damage.
  • Fire precautions – being prepared is everything:
Signs point the way, fire extinguishers are clearly visible. Small fires may be extinguished by trained employees themselves (depending on the situation) – different extinguishers are used depending on the type of fire:
CO2 extinguisher (e.g. in the canteen or server room) – not suitable for use on people
Foam extinguisher – suitable for fires involving people
  • Assembly point and fire department:
In the event of a fire, the team meets at the assembly point, organized by department. Here, completeness is checked and the fire department must be briefed by designated colleagues.
  • Responsible working:
Safety starts with each individual: Damage and defects must be reported. Anyone who does not have a driver’s license must inform the manager.
  • Protective clothing and behavior with hazardous substances:
Hearing protection is mandatory when stud welding or when there are loud bangs! Safety goggles must also be worn when welding. Caution is also required when handling hazardous substances.
  • Maintenance and hazardous substance management:
Maintenance has an overview of the hazardous substances used and their data sheets. The hazardous substances are stored safely in metal cabinets with labeling. The same applies here: only use what has been tested and documented.
  • First aid – we act together:
In the event of an injury, never drive to the doctor or hospital alone! Three people drive: the driver, the helper and the injured person (sitting in the back).
Ambulance: When the ambulance arrives, one person stands by the road and gives the emergency services clear information, a second person stands by the entrance and shows the way.
Do not forget: Injuries must be entered in the injury log – this is the basis for reporting them to the employers’ liability insurance association (BG). The team leader and HR must also be informed.

Conclusion: Safe working is teamwork – with clear rules, tested materials and a watchful eye for the environment. After all, our workplace will only remain productive and safe if everyone pulls together.
